Allow Me To Reintroduce Myself

I’m Sheila. Sheila E. to be exact and since there’s a brilliant musical artist who goes by that name, Sheila will do just fine.
I’m a strategist, builder and leader.
I’m a Midwest transplant to the west coast.
I’m the 2nd of 3 kids of parents who were a part of the great migration of 6 million Black people from the south to the east, north and west. Read Isabel Wilkerson’s The Warmth of Other Suns for beautiful stories of courage, intention and faith. Words that accurately describe my parents.
In the workplace, I’ve:
developed and launched new products and services in the consumer-packaged goods, financial services and retail verticals
owned a boutique marketing consulting firm providing strategic and tactical services through a portfolio of 200 diversely-skilled professionals and full-service firms
co-owned and served as the CEO of a 40-employee business impact consulting firm with Fortune 500, large nonprofit, education and government clients
held executive and senior leadership roles in $1B+ philanthropic organizations leading organizational design and operations
What’s my jam?
Leadership.
What’s importantly similar about my current work as a strategy consultant and executive leadership coach?
On both sides of my work, I live for the AHA moments of my clients that happen when the secret sauce to the growth of their organizations, or themselves as leaders, appears to them. That is where my satisfaction lives!
Strategic consulting… making laser-focused recommendations to executives about how to gain operational stability, set growth strategies and prepare for organizational transformation.
Executive leadership coaching… helping executive leaders reveal their own truths as they work toward improving their leadership instincts.
What’s up outside of work?
MCing events where I’ve been fortunate to share the stage with amazing humans including poet, author, essayist and civil rights activist Maya Angelou; the late Bernard Tyson, CEO of Kaiser Permanente; former Surgeon General Regina Benjamin; actor, producer and director Danny Glover; and singer, actress and songwriter T-Boz of TLC
Public speaking to audiences of brilliant women entrepreneurs and executives
Nonprofit board service… 14 important organizations.
Travel… international and here in the states.
Sports. Football… NFL and NCAA. Basketball… WNBA and NBA. Tennis… WTA.
Music… pick a genre.
Reading… current, Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin
Puzzling… amazing what it teaches me.
What I’m looking to do next?
Serve as a COO or CEO in philanthropy or a large nonprofit, leading teams toward impact both outside and inside. Join a corporate board to bring the perspective and expertise of a visionary grounded in seamless execution toward measurable impact.
